Make your own cheese

In the introductory cheese making class, you will make a feta cheese to take home and enjoy. The skills you will learn in making feta allow you to make cheeses such as chevre, mozzarella, cheddar, gouda and a host of other cheeses. The class is completely hands-on. You use equipment you already have in your own home kitchen such as a stainless steel pot, a thermometer, a wooden spoon, and a long knife.

Introductory classes run regularly in Central and North Canterbury areas. Special arrangements can be made for (small) groups, or for other areas of greater Christhchurch. Gift vouchers are available.

Andrea Gauland of Te Hua Farm has been making cheese at home for 13 years.

Introductory Course, $80. This runs for approximately 3 hours.
Farmstead Cheddar, $115. This course runs for approximately 6 hours.

These classes continue to be a fund-raiser for the CDGBA, with a generous portion of the proceeds of each class donated to the club.
